THINGS TO DO THIS FESTIVE SEASON

It’s that time of the year again when Durban comes alive with tourism activities, and we see travellers from far and near come to enjoy the warm weather and beautiful scenery that Durban has to offer. Now that we are also in lockdown Level 1, there are many more options for the whole family to enjoy! Here are some of our top events and activities for you to experience this festive season:

  • Westville Swimming Pool

After months of being closed, we are delighted to finally have this swimming pool open – just in time for summer! Pool days are perfect for keeping the kids entertained or to cool off during the hot summer days. You’ll find friendly lifeguards on duty, and the pool is always in pristine condition.

Where: Saint James Avenue, Dawncliffe, Westville

Admission fee: R12

  • Christmas Extravaganza Market

Come and join us on the 27th of November 2021 for a Christmas Extravaganza that you won’t forget! Kick off the festive season with delicious food, wine tasting, gin, craft beer and German Christmas goodies. We’ll have live music to keep you entertained, and you can get your Christmas shopping done early too! We will also be donating part of the proceeds made to Pathways, Westville, a centre for children with severe cognitive & physical disabilities.

Where: Westville Country Club, 1 Link Road, Westville

  • 2nd Phase of KZN Relief Fund

While this is not an event, we think it definitely deserves a mention. The second phase of the R20 million Tourism Relief Fund is currently open for applications from distressed tourism businesses and operators in KwaZulu-Natal. The purpose of this fund is to assist businesses to mitigate the effects of the pandemic, prevent job losses and get back towards a path of stability. Visit www.zulu.org.za to view the fund requirements and remember to ensure that all of the necessary documentation is attached for your application to be successful.

Closing Date: 29 October 2021

  • Westville Theatre Club

This is another local gem that is keeping the arts alive! The Westville Theatre Club provides a platform for amateur theatre groups, companies and individuals. Experience the thrill of live theatre productions from local talent with plenty of great acting! Make sure you visit their website to see what productions are on over the festive season: www.westvilletheatreclub.co.za
